birchbricker Great EP. I'm really picky about country, and I am impressed with this debut. I look forward to a full-length album someday. I recommend this to fans of the Bakersfield Sound, Dwight Yoakam, Dolly Parton & Marty Stuart. I purchased the cd. Favorite track: Boo Hoo.

Boo Hoo 03:38
At first I was shocked Caught a bit off guard I never thought that you would take it this far Sure I’ll take the blame That ain’t no new thing Since the victim is a role that you were born to play Yeah I guess you hurt me Yeah ya hurt me We all know that it’s true But don’t you worry No don't worry Cuz I’ll be damned if I ever act the way that you do Some time has passed The vibes have changed I forgot what it was like to live in a cohesive way Go talk your talk Go spread your lies Do whatever you can do to talk yourself into the cruel things you do Go on girl get out there and do your thing I’ll be here when you need someone to blame! Yeah so you hurt Boo hoo hoo

No Clue 03:21
I'm feeling weak like I am skinny even though my clothes fit tight I'm always keeping myself up from thinking about you in the night And all the while I’m thinking I could just do one thing right I'll keep staring at the ceiling dreaming about the morning in sight The phone calls from my father and the shaking in his voice Pleading and repeating daddy I know its my choice Living with the feeling I’ll keep pining with regret I'll keep staring at the ceiling hoping my life turns out fine Oh if only we trusted ourselves if only we would have loved someone else Oh what do we do No clue Oh if only we trusted ourselves if only we would have loved someone else Oh what do we do No clue My friend is slowly dying see it with my own two eyes Everyday I see her underneath all of his lies And looking at us and knowing she won't ever feel this good I kept staring at the ceiling knowing I did all I could Oh, if only we trusted ourselves If only we would have loved someone else Oh what do we do No clue Oh, if only we trusted ourselves If only we would have loved someone else Oh what do I do No clue Oh what do I do what do I do

Well it was bye bye birdie as soon as things went dirty Now we’re alone all alone But we can make it better if we just stick together But I'm not fooled you fool Oh I I will get over you And now I’m just searching for someone new Someone new who’s not you The road ahead was narrow there was no warning signs or arrows Where does it go where does it go Oh I I somehow I’ll make it through And I I’ll just searching for someone new Someone new who’s not you Someone new who’s not you Get out of my head get out of my head Get out of my head get out of my head Get out of my head get out of my head Well, it was bye bye birdie as soon as things went dirty

about

WATERLOO, IOWA/2024 - Katie and the Honky Tonks are thrilled to announce the release of their highly anticipated EP, "Two Steppin in the Shower," on March 1st, 2024. Available both digitally and on compact disc, this 4-track EP promises an authentic honky tonk experience, featuring honest lyrics, killer hooks, harmonies, and a solid two-steppin foundation from start to finish. The band believes in the age-old adage, "If it ain’t broke, don't fix it."

Recorded live to 2-inch tape over 2 days at Catamount Recordings in Cedar Falls, Iowa, with minimal overdubs, the EP was engineered, mixed, and mastered by the talented Travis Huisman. Produced collaboratively by KTHT along with Travis Huisman, the result is a raw and genuine sound that captures the essence of the honky tonk genre.

Katie Sires, a seasoned songwriter with over 15 years of experience, brought her best to the table for this EP. She co-wrote the title track, "Two Steppin in the Shower," with local Des Moines musicians Luke Fox and Nathan Emerson. The Honky Tonks—Brian, Bryan, and Luke—assisted Katie in arranging the songs to reach their full musical potential, with Brian contributing some lyric ideas.

The EP kicks off with the honky tonk tune "Boo Hoo," a song of resilience and overcoming a shocking loss. It sets the stage for the journey ahead, pushing forward and learning from past mistakes. The second track, "No Clue," starts with the bass walking in and takes listeners on an exploration of life's struggles through the lens of observing friends. The tempo of "No Clue" ebbs and flows, concluding with the contemplative question, "what do we do? Oh, what do we do?"

The third track, "Bye Bye Birdie," starts with a strummed acoustic accompanied by the pedal steel and serves as a classic break-up song with a melody that lingers in your head all day. Closing the EP is the title track, "Two Steppin in the Shower," a fun and anthemic song co-written via a series of text messages between Katie Sires, Luke Fox and Nathan Emerson. The lyrics are light-hearted, fun, and backed by a swampy groove.

Throughout the EP, harmonies sung by Brian McCarty add depth. While Luke Sires, (drums) Brian McCarty, (bass) Roger Miller (Roger Miller Band, Little Jimmy Dickens, Charlie Louvin)(telecaster/pedal steel) and Danny Mitchell (Miranda Lambert) (Hammond B3) contributed to the honky tonk magic. Clocking in at just under 14 minutes, "Two Steppin in the Shower" EP is a captivating journey that will have you hitting play again and again.
